It's a challenge for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and once went nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the record chasers, are what's still available for a side that has achieved everything.

That it took up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their batters to hold a record if never given the possibility.

In the end, the result of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy getting a chance to produce her newest gem.

Originally famous as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her debut and seven global championships have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not come up short.

If this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort is debatable.

Certain people claim the case for championship match pressure. Others can counter with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings came after six matches in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in practice sessions, it has been a frustrating experience because it appeared I've had no rhythm at all," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you take the field, your competitive nature kick in and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her great strength - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and from that point the batsman was on her way.

"The possibility to take the field and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun that way, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

When she was removed Australia required another 66 at run per delivery - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the confidence to do that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, if necessary, we believe we can succeed."

Those words will be the last rival teams at this World Cup want to hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will win from any position has only strengthened - this success coming after success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated through the pain.

But while she later admitted those physical issues have delayed plans to retire, this championship is likely to be her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as skipper.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
